This appliquéd and quilted pillow cover’s central feature is a silk-screened appliqué. The original design was created by José Castro Villa, a Huichol artist. I added two graphic peyote cactus appliqués with hand-embroidered accents and glass beads. All of the background and border fabrics are by Kaffe Fassett and made of 100% cotton. The pom-poms are handmade in Mexico. I use free-motion quilting to add depth and interest to the background. The back has an envelope closing and it is signed. The pillow insert is not included, but you can purchase pillow forms from many locations. This is the only pillow cover I will be making of this design because I only had one of these silkscreens.
